When Daniel Goldin travelled to Germany in 1987 to visit the birthplace of Tanztheater thanks to the Coca Cola Arts and Sciences 1st prize in choreography that he won that year, he began an exceptional career that would, in turn, have a decisive influence on the German Tanztheater.

Goldin danced with the Folkwang Tanzstudio Company and worked with artists such as Pina Bausch, Carolyn Carlson, Urs Dietrich, Raffaella Giordano and Susanne Linke, who all provided the foundation for his creative work. This early experience widened his stylistic repertoire and built a platform from which he would develop his own choreographic calligraphy.

He travelled around Europe as an independent choreographer with a program of duets “Tales from the road - Wegerzählungen”. In 1996 he was appointed director and principal choreographer of the Tanztheater der Städtischen Bühnen Münster, where he has built a regional, national and international reputation thanks to sixteen years of uninterrupted work.

Goldin has composed more than 30 pieces in Münster and he and his ensemble have shown his work in different cities in Germany, as well as touring successfully in Los Angeles, Lyon, Bolzano, Berne and Trento, among other places. The Tanztheater Münster has been invited three times to the International Dance Fair of NRW (Nordrhein-Westfalen) and twice to the Nordrhein-Westfalen tanz nrw. The company’s performances have regularly been covered in the national and regional specialized press. Every season has seen the creation of interdisciplinary work in cooperation with other companies and cultural institutions, not only from Münster but also from other regions, all of which has contributed to establishing and consolidating the presence of the company in the state of NRW. The reason for Goldin’s success lies not only in the high quality of his and his ensemble’s work but also in the remarkable continuity with which he has carried out his projects and his work in collaboration with other artists.
